Bases that do not move in February
A sauna is only as quiet as the ground under it. What we ask for before a crane turns up, and what fails after the first frost.
Most of the problems we are called back for are not heaters. They are bases that looked flat in September and were not flat in February. A barrel will rack. A cabin door will catch. Water in a tub will sit off-level and the stove will sulk.
We ask for a level, load-bearing pad: compacted MOT, slabs on a proper sub-base, screw piles, or a thin concrete raft. Decking is rarely enough unless it was designed for a filled tub. A six-person soak is more than a tonne of water before anyone gets in.
If you are unsure, send photographs of the spot, the route from the road, and a rough size. We would rather delay a delivery than lower a building onto something that will creep.
